WADA’s draft long-term financial plan is ready
The intercontinental consultations were led by Minister Witold Bańka
On 16 May 2018 in Montreal, a meeting was held of the WADA Executive Committee on which the European governments are represented by Minister of Sport and Tourism Witold Bańka. In the meeting, a number of decisions were taken, including with regard to the WADA budget.
The Executive Committee adopted, inter alia, the organization’s draft long-term financial plan developed by Minister Bańka as a result of consultations with all the continents.
The plan envisages an increase of the WADA budget by 8 percent per year in 2019-2022. The proposal has been negotiated in cooperation with governments from all the continents. The compromise between the governments and the Olympic movement has been a great success, said Minister Bańka who led the consultations.
The draft will be submitted to the WADA Foundation Board for approval.
In Montreal, other issues were also discussed such as revision of the international anti-doping system, the international standard for education, and the situation of anti-doping laboratories in Europe.
The 12-member Executive Committee is WADA's main governing body next to the Foundation Board.
